Twenty Nichols College Students have been recognized as Orientation Leaders during summer 2017 for the incoming Class of 2021. These students introduce new first-year students to Nichols College and the community by leading them through team activities and helping them acclimate to the college lifestyle.
18 Nichols College students are members of the 2017-2018 Student Government Association.
Almost 400 students worked as volunteers in areas ranging from media and production to credentialing and ticket distribution during the first presidential debate between candidates Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump, held at Hofstra University on Sept. 26, 2016. Along with a month-long series of panels discussions, lectures and performances on important election issues, the volunteer opportunity provided a once-in-a-lifetime educational experience that inspired students to engage in the democratic process and embrace their responsibility as citizens and voters. Hofstra University is the only institution in the nation to host three consecutive presidential debates, and its 2016 debate was the most widely watched in American history.
At WPI, all undergraduates are required to complete a research-driven, professional-level project that applies science and technology to addresses an important societal need or issue.
Twenty Hofstra University students were inducted into the Mu Kappa Chapter of Gamma Theta Upsilon (GTU) during a ceremony this spring. GTU is the international honor society for students studying geography.

Thirty-three Nichols College students have taken on internships for the Spring semester with various companies, agencies, and organizations. Students can obtain internships starting sophomore year. Internships prepare students for professional work environments and give them an advantage in the job market following graduation.
